Al-Asmāʾ al-Ḥusnā

The 99 Names of Allah

Every name of Allah is a window into who He is. This is a study reference for the 99 beautiful names traditionally enumerated in the hadith of Abū Hurayrah — with Arabic script, transliteration, meaning, Qur'anic evidence, and a short classical explanation for each.

Sources. Arabic names and the enumeration follow the list transmitted through Sunan al-Tirmidhī (§3507). Meanings are concise summaries reflecting the consensus classical understanding as documented in Al-Ghazālī's Al-Maqṣad al-Asnā fī sharḥ Asmāʾ Allāh al-Ḥusnā (~1100 CE) and Ibn Kathīr's Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAẓīm (~1370 CE). Qur'anic references list ayahs where the name appears explicitly.
