Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, installing or using the SABR app (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to them, do not use the App. We may update these Terms: we will then change the date above, and continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
2. The service
SABR helps you memorise and review the Quran through listening, repetition, active recall, spaced reviews and feedback on your recitation, with a learning path, progress tracking, streaks and leagues. Every feature is available to every user.
3. Your account
You can create an account with Apple, Google, an email address and password, or a phone number. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for what happens under it. Give accurate information and tell us promptly about any unauthorised use.
4. Subscription and free access
SABR is funded by auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly or yearly). Every feature is available to every user. If you genuinely cannot afford a subscription, you may choose to use SABR for free, on your honour; you can change this choice at any time from the App. Subscriptions are sold through Apple’s App Store or Google Play and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel at any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. Prices come from the store, may vary by region and may change; you will be informed before a change applies to you.
5. Leagues and community
Your display name, profile photo, weekly XP and rank are visible to other users in the leagues. Choose a respectful name and photo: we may change or remove a name or photo that is offensive, misleading or infringes the rights of others, and suspend accounts that repeatedly do so.
6. Intellectual property
The text of the Quran is in the public domain and SABR claims no rights over it. Recitations, translations and other third-party content are used under their own licences (see Sources & credits in the App). The other elements of the App (design, interface, graphics, animations, game mechanics, code and branding) are the intellectual property of SABR and are protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or create derivative works from them without our prior written consent.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose and in compliance with applicable laws. You shall not: (a) attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App; (b) use it to transmit harmful, offensive or illegal content; (c) interfere with or disrupt its infrastructure; (d) create multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes; (e) use automated systems to interact with it; or (f) share, sell or transfer your account or subscription.
8. Recitation feedback
Feedback on your recitation, scores and word highlighting are produced automatically and can be wrong. They help you practise but do not replace learning with a qualified teacher.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, nor any particular result, including memorisation outcomes.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SABR and its founders, employees and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at our discretion, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App ends immediately. You may delete your account at any time in the App’s settings. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination remain in effect.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SABR operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration or before the competent courts, without prejudice to the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.
