Dua when entering the market

Lā ilāha illa’llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu’l-mulku wa lahu’l-ḥamd, yuḥyī wa yumīt, wa huwa ḥayyun lā yamūt, bi-yadihi’l-khayr, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in qadīr.

There is no god but Allah alone, without partner; to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He is able to do all things.

Frequently asked

What dua do you say when entering the market?

Say the tahlīl "Lā ilāha illa’llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah… wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in qadīr", which the Prophet ﷺ taught for entering the market.

Why is there a special dua for the market?

The market is a place of heedlessness; remembering Allah there earns immense reward, so the believer counters distraction with dhikr.
