About

Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi (1920–1969) was an Egyptian Qari revered for his emotive murattal recitation. He came from a family of Qurra' in Sohag governorate and is often listed alongside Al-Husary and Abdul Basit as one of the three pillars of the classical Egyptian recitation school.

Recitation style

Al-Minshawi's voice carries a distinctive tremor of khushu' — a controlled emotional weight that is impossible to fake. His murattal is slower than most contemporary reciters and lets each ayah settle before the next begins.

Best known for

His Juz Amma murattal recording that generations of Egyptian students have learned recitation from at the kuttab.
