Tajwid rule
Iqlab (conversion)
الإقلاب
Transliteration: Iqlāb
What it is
Iqlab means converting the noon sound into a meem sound with a ghunna. It applies in exactly one situation: a noon sakinah or tanwin immediately followed by the letter ب.
When it applies
A noon sakinah (or tanwin) is followed by the letter ب. This can happen inside one word or across two words.
How it sounds
The tongue doesn't touch the roof of the mouth at all — instead, the lips come together as if to say 'meem', and a ghunna is held for two counts before releasing into the ba.
